Join Our Finance Team
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to play a key role within the finance team, supporting the Financial Controller in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis and robust financial controls. The role is responsible for managing month-end accounting activities, producing management accounts, overseeing stock and WIP accounting, cash flow forecasting, and supporting the day-to-day finance operation.
Working within a fast-paced dynamic manufacturing environment, the successful candidate will provide commercial and operational insight to help drive profitability, cash generation and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Management Accounts & Reporting
Prepare monthly management accounts accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Contribute towards detailed monthly management reporting packs for senior management and PE stakeholders.
Prepare and post month-end journals including payroll, depreciation and provisions.
Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
Analyse financial results against budget, forecast and prior year performance.
Provide insightful commentary on financial performance and key business drivers.
Financial Analysis
Perform detailed analysis of sales performance and gross margins.
Support profitability analysis by customer and products.
Identify trends, opportunities and risks affecting business performance.
Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to support strategic initiatives.
Stock, WIP & Provisions
Maintain accurate stock and work-in-progress accounting.
Monitor stock valuation and stock movements.
Calculate and review stock provisions and reserves.
Support stock counts and inventory control processes.
Work closely with operations to ensure manufacturing costs are accurately recorded.
Capital Expenditure (Capex)
Maintain fixed asset and capital expenditure registers.
Review and monitor capital spending against approved budgets.
Ensure assets are correctly capitalised and depreciated.
Produce capex reporting and support investment appraisal activities.
Cash Management & Forecasting
Prepare and maintain short and medium-term cash flow forecasts.
Monitor working capital performance.
Support banking activities and relationships.
Finance Operations Support
Support the day-to-day running of the finance function.
Provide guidance and support to the Assistant Management Accountant, Purchase Ledger and Credit Control.
Support year-end audit requirements and statutory reporting.
Business Partnering
Build strong relationships with operational and commercial teams.
Provide financial insight to non-financial stakeholders.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within finance and reporting processes.
Essential Skills & Attributes
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Resilient under pressure and able to handle confidential information.
Advanced Excel / MS Office skills and confidence using finance systems.
Ability to analyse large volumes of financial and operational data.
Ability to work independently and meet demanding deadlines.
Commercial awareness and business acumen.
Knowledge of manufacturing costing and operational KPIs.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced PE-backed environment.
Exposure to budgeting and forecasting processes.
Qualifications & Experience
GCSE Maths and English (essential).
Proven experience as a Management Accountant.
Professional accounting qualification - fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
Strong technical understanding of Management Accounting principles
Previous experience in manufacturing environment advantageous.
Experience supporting finance operations including purchase ledger and credit control.
Experience within a Private Equity-backed organisation.
